What is CanSat Leadaer Training Program (CLTP)?
A: The CanSat Leader Training Program (CLTP) was established in 2010 as a part of "New Paradigm of Space Development and Utilization by Nano-satellite" of "Funding Program for World-Leading Innovative R&D on Science and Technology (FIRST)". This project is led by Prof. Shinichi NAKASUKA, The University of Tokyo, to contribute to capacity building in space technology and to improve teaching methods-based space engineering education. Participant satisfaction is high.

Who will be targeted for this program?
A:
- Academic Researchers, who belong to the University or Research Institute from outside Japan are eligible and desirable. Since this program is for professionals who will be expected to contribute to the space education field in their countries after the CanSat activities.
- Company Employees
We hope the CLTP4 is one way to offer up hope and new opportunities as employee education and training programs.
* Meanwhile, the CLTP participants will be in a position to make a follow-up report to the CLTP office within two years after the completion of the CLTP Program. The report may touch on how your CanSat activity will be sustainable in your country.

How do I register?
A:
CLTP4 application is now closed. The form and assessment test for future CLTP will be posted in the application page in due course.

How is CLTP organized?
A:
The CLTP currently contains a training course that was established for participants to experience the entire cycle of CanSat development from the design to launch of model rockets.

How long does it take to complete the training?
A:
It will complete the training in five weeks in principal.

Do I have to complete the training all at once?
A:
Yes, you are required to complete the training all at once.

How does the CLTP office protect my privacy?

How do I obtain a certificate of completion?
A:
If you have successfully completed a course, a Certificate of Completion is awarded to each participant at the end of the program.

Is each participant guaranteed a dormitory room in the vicinity of CLTP venues, e.g. the University facilities? What are the application procedures?
A:
We try to offer each CLTP participant a dormitory room in the vicinity of CLTP venues and the host University. However, in rare cases when no space is available at the host University dormitory, they may have to stay at the hotel in the vicinity of CLTP venues or find it on their own.
If they will stay at a regular hotel, an average expense will be about JPY 10,000 per night (incl. Breakfast).

What are the monthly living costs?
A:
The monthly living cost would be estimated to about \375,450 for the participants if they live in the vicinity hotel of Shinkawasaki Campus, Keio University during the CLTP4.

When will I be informed of the results of selection for CLTP4?
A:
We will inform all applicants of the results of the selection by the end of April 2013. The letter of Acceptance will be sent to your e-mail address when entered with your application, but the letter will only be sent once, so please enter an e-mail address that you will be using for at least the rest of the year. Please note that we do not accept any inquiries regarding selection results by phone.

If my participation in CLTP4 is accepted, when and how should I pay the participation fees?
A:
The participation fees should be paid by bank transfer. The bank information will be given in the letter of acceptance in the notification email sent to the participant by the CLTP Office c/o. UNISEC. All bank charges and commissions are paid by the participants. Payment on site and using credit card are not allowed. If we cannot confirm such payment by the deadline, your participation will be cancelled.
An Invoice will be sent in PDF format by email. As it has a signature and a stamp in full color, you need a high–quality printer to print out it.
To receive an invoice, you need to provide the following information:
If the bank transfer is made by a natural person: the person’s full name and address.
If the bank transfer is made by a company or an organization: legal name of the organization, address, name of recipient of the invoice and full address.
If the bank transfer is made by a natural person, it is not possible to issue an invoice to a company or organization.
Cancellation Policy
The participation fees must be paid in advance and details of the cancellation policy will be notified in the email later.
Liability
The CLTP Office is not liable for international travel and living costs by the participants to attend the CLTP4 program.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
