Statement of Purpose

I participated in the CLTP13 Heptasat training with the following goals:

  • To deepen my hands-on experience and enhance my understanding of overall satellite technology.
  • To strengthen my foundation in all satellite subsystems, including communication, sensors, and power systems.
  • To gain practical leadership and project management skills essential for satellite development in multidisciplinary environments.
  • To expand my professional and academic networks by collaborating with experts from different countries, fostering knowledge exchange and future partnerships.
  • To equip myself with the skills needed to contribute to large-scale space ventures, particularly in startup ecosystems.
  • To lead and implement effective teaching methods for practical space technology education and expand space science programs across Africa.
  • To apply my knowledge in effectively communicating and collaborating with various satellite subsystems.
  • To manage the integration of satellite systems, ensuring smooth coordination and operation in complex space missions.

Feedback from CLTP13

The training was exceptionally well-prepared and organized, offering a comprehensive foundation in satellite building. The support from the instructors, teaching assistants, and staff was outstanding, making the learning experience even more effective.

The teaching materials and satellite kits were thoughtfully designed to convey the fundamentals of space systems. The programming exercises were tailored to accommodate students' diverse backgrounds, ensuring everyone could follow along. The hands-on practical exercises were invaluable in highlighting the key concepts and best practices for satellite development.

Vision for the future

  • Capacity Building Programs: Promote space science and technology by leading capacity-building initiatives to nurture the next generation of space engineers.
  • Launch Hepta/CanSat Training in Ethiopia: Implement Hepta/CanSat training programs for high school and university students, fostering hands-on learning and inspiring future space professionals.
  • Professional Engineer Training: Provide specialized training programs for engineers, equipping them with the skills needed to advance space technology.
  • Outreach Programs: Develop national outreach initiatives to increase awareness and interest in space science and technology.
  • Large-Scale Satellite Projects: Tackle critical satellite projects in Ethiopia, utilizing my technical expertise and systems engineering knowledge to address important national challenges.
  • Leadership in Space Missions: Lead space missions with a solid foundation in project management and leadership, ensuring successful execution and impactful results.
  • Foster International Collaborations: Leverage the network built during CLTP13 to initiate meaningful collaborative projects, strengthening international partnerships and advancing space exploration.

Message for future CLTP participants

I would advise prospective CLTP participants that this training is an excellent opportunity to gain the skills necessary for success in space missions. It provides a rare, hands-on experience in satellite technology, so make the most of it and fully embrace the chance to learn and grow.
