There are various reasons why I wanted to join the CanSat/CubeSat Leader Training Program (CLTP). As the Philippines continues to move forward in the space sector, the increase in the need for experts in this field will be more and more evident. This is reason number one - to learn effective ways of capacity building. The second reason is to enhance my knowledge of satellite development and discover new technology. The program can also expand my network with my peers and give me an opportunity to connect with leading institutions. The insight of my co-participants, mentors, and experts in the field is invaluable.
CLTP does a great job of simplifying the processes involved in satellite development from mission design to operations with the use of HEPTA-Sat CubeSat. The requirements to attain the level to learn the materials are not that difficult, you don't need to be the best and the brightest in the space field, you just need discipline and the eagerness to learn satellite development because almost all the step-by-step processes are already laid out plus all the materials and components are already available and of course, the professors and mentors are all experts in their own field. Although, you may need to budget your time wisely because of the short amount of time. The professors, mentors, teaching assistants, staff, and everyone behind the program -from UNISEC to Nihon University to AOTS- are all helpful, friendly, and approachable. CLTP is also designed to maximize interaction with other countries serving as a great avenue to learn the perspectives of various people in different countries on approaches to satellite development, the use of space data, and the future of space. This also gave us chance to forge bonds with fellow colleagues in the space sector.
My vision is to be an effective node in the infinitely expanding space ecosystem.
Kickstart your journey in satellite development with CLTP! Have fun, learn, make friends and have fun some more!
